Every effort on this Gallery site has been made to accurately represent the vibrant colours of Sam’s images. Due to differences in computer screens and certain other variations, the images here should only to be taken as a guide. Obviously, the colour and sharpness of a finished print are far superior to what can be presented on a small screen.
Valletta Fountain- Malta
$162.00 – $2,500.00
The Tritons’ Fountain is a fountain located just outside the City Gate of Valletta, Malta. It consists of three bronze Tritons holding up a large basin, balanced on a concentric base built out of concrete and clad in Travertine slabs. The fountain is one of Malta’s most important landmarks. A special place for me as I have been travelling to Malta for over 40 years. I was in Malta on Sep 2019 and decided i needed to photograph this but i wanted a different perspective. There were portable food kiosks there so I jumped on top of one and snapped this amazing shot.
Designed and constructed between 1952 and 1959 the fountain became unofficially operational on Saturday 16 May 1959. The fountain deteriorated in subsequent decades, until the bronze figures were dismantled and restored in 2017. Works were ready by the end of the year, and the fountain and piazza were officially inaugurated on 12 January 2018.
