Every effort on this Gallery site has been made to accurately represent the vibrant colours of Sam’s images. Due to differences in computer screens and certain other variations, the images here should only to be taken as a guide. Obviously, the colour and sharpness of a finished print are far superior to what can be presented on a small screen.
Dune Du Pilat
$270.00 – $2,500.00
When I arrived, the skies were grey and murky. Luckily for me the clouds opened up and gave me about 10 minutes of sun, believe me, it’s hard work running around on a sand dune trying to get different angles while carrying camera gear. The largest Sand Dune in Europe the Dune Du Pilat has a volume of about 60,000,000 m³, measuring around 500 m wide from east to west and 2.7 km in length from north to south. Its height is currently 110 meters above sea level. The dune is a famous tourist destination with more than one million visitors per year. The dune is considered a foredune, meaning a dune that runs parallel to a shoreline, behind the high tide line of a beach. On 24 January 2009, a peak wind speed of 175 km/h (109 mph) was recorded during a storm at the dune, damaging the dune.
